J. MARSHALL (Continued from pace 2) Someone has suggested that the reason the Amalgamated Sugar Company recently declared a 38 cent bonus, while other companies gave more, was that it had to raise such a handsome donation for the Republican campaign committee. Year after year new money has been poured into the telephone business to relieve threatening congestion and to prepare for the future demands of telephone users. I n gdocT times 6 r Tia rcT t i rriesT ;KcT . '! , ' By MME. TSBETII The use of metal cloths for evening wraps and the futuristic ideas for frocks are the subject of our illustrations today. Personally I always associate cloths of silver and gold with Bible times and Arabian Nights. However, they are today more used than would have been possible in faroff times and not only princes and princesses have clothes fashioned of them but folks. quite The evening wrap on the left is very lovely made of metallic cloth and blackordinary velvet. Two large medallions of silver braid with long silver tassels are placed one oneach side of the front. The one on the right is fashioned, of embroidered- - metallic cloth in a wrap around coat style. It has huge, loose sleeves with a narrow band of beaver just below the elbow and a wide one at the wrist. The collar is also trimmed with fur.. In the center is a unique evening frock of georgette crepe over a white satin slip. The designer worked out a futuristic design in making this gown, but the effect is decidedly pleasing. Bands of black crepe are used In panels land g patterns 6n the frock proper and the loose, full drapery that is caught on either side of the skirt. An odd bat attractive ,headdresS is also worn with the dress and carries out the futuristic design. -.1 T- It has always seemed to me that futuristic things-- r including pictures and trimmings should be used only with the greatest restraint.
