The college reports that this department will school send into the elementary schools aliout one year the hundred teachers. It is doubtful if the people of Logan generally know and appreciate th? fact that Logan has, at the Brigham Young CollegOr-- a- great .industry the- - making of public, school teachers. Among stater school authorities the importance and excellence of this industry' is recognized with enthusiasm. - Under the state laws, the work of training teachers in state institutions, for the elementary schools is pretty largely confined to th University of Utah. Logan may as a result expect to hav? ultimately at the Brigham Young College a normal school which will serve as a model in the fold of teacher training. But the change of policy evidently contemplates more than in the preparation for A concentration upon the essentials teachers. There are, of course. many parents and students who will regret the passing of the high school work at the Brigham Young College. lives The highly efficient training and the quiet, which students lead at the Brigham Young College will be hard to duplicate in any school ; but under the new policy the school will undoubtedly continue' to exert its influence in favor of the finer things in education, and the compensating effects will more than repay any loss sustained by withdrawing from the high school field .
