However, the call attracted) his attention and the persistence . with which D2 was called aroused his curosity. When he arrived in Chicago on the Manitou he looked up the call and found that it wras the Humboldts call. Then came in the newspf the disaster and the story of Eccles heroism. Godley had heard the last call sent by the wireless, but did not know that the sender of the message vyas on board a sinking ship. IlYRUM, Aug. 31. The1 home James C. A thief wrapped$l,200in bills in a newspaper with a note saying that he dared not face his priest and left the package on a n mail box at the Manhattan to the Broklyn bridge, where many thousands of persens passed it unnoticed. It was addressed to the Aitken Humbert company, manufacturers of fountain pens, at Maiden Lane, and when delivered it partly solved the mystery of a theft three weeks ago. At that time some one stole $1 ,2C from the cashiers desk. Detectives were unable to find the money or the thief and last Saturday a member of the firm notified all employes that the thief was known and he could avoid publicity by returning the money. It e is 'believed that word of this reached the thief and he acted accordingly. conscience-stric- ken en-tra- -- CM no-tic- , St. Logan, Utah N CALL FOR AID HEARD FOUR STATE FAIR OVER THREE THOUSAND MILES FROM SCENES Ogden, Utah, September 09 Reduced rates will be made via Wire 27. while the Aug.
