Show County School Board date the ( indebtedness. A. tax one half mill. Jc) I88-than tlie present levj will raise a sum sufficiently large to cover the ' interest and sinking fund. Ilence we can realize these improved1 con .i ditions on less taxation than here-- ! tofare, and which increased tax we skill have to pay if no' bonds . are voted. . , Those living in some of the districts may object to the proposition of bonding on the. grounds that they have adequate school room.', But in looking over the account that were turned in from the various districts, we note that in the general those districts which, have mew buildings are the ones which turned over indebtedness to the Board of Education; while, those in need of. new build)-ingtransferred money to the Board of Education which no doubt would have soon been, expended for the erection of these buildings. It has been feared1 by some that a bond could not be sold on account of the litigation pending against the, Board of Education. The following letter was bordered sent but to the different districts. - It 'fully explains' the school house situation. I, Logan, Utah, May 8, 1909. To The School Patrons of Cache County School District Owing to prevailing conditio . ons in regards to the building accommodations in theCach-eCountSchool District the Board of Education deems it proper to address a letter to the taxpayers of the county setting forth existing con- 'ditions and' suggesting means for improving them. The schools of the county are at present in a very crowTded condition, and, it appears they will be still more crowded next year. We have been compelled to secure the use of twelve (12) rooms, fox school purposed,, not owned by the District ; and for nine (8). of these over five hundred dollars ($500.QQ) per year is being paid for rent. Some of the rooms we have been obliged, to hire are very unsuitable, almost criminally inadequate, for 'housing Children during school hours. In one district a room seventeen by seven-- . ten (17x17) fet, poorely equipped for ventilation, is being used for forty pupils. Most unsanitary.- In another, a room so dark as to injure the .eyesight of the pupils and cast a gloom over anyone is in use ; and1 in another, one, school is kept in an abandoned saloon building. Because of the scattered location of these rooms it is impossible for the principals to give the schools proper supervision. And again, because of these eon jested conditions, many of, the principals are teaching as many as or more pupils than the ordinary teacher, hence cannot properly supervise the schools under his - TUESDAY, M LOGAN CITY, UTAH; XXX. ted - dedicated a The Eighth' ward meeting house, which-walittle mo: e than a week ago, is one of. the neatest and most comfortable structures of its kind in the Stake, and- in the s 'erection of it the people of tha t ward set a pace that has never been equalled in the church.
