Our MILLVILLE, July School Ward Conference Sunday was held on the 30th inst. Three sessions were held; morning, afternoon and . evening. We had with us two . members of the Stake board, Alfred namely Smurthwaite, of Wellsville, and I. Sorensen of Mendon; the customary program being prepared of songs, recitations, speeches, and readings, was ereditabaly rendered by those who took part. There was not so good an attendance of parents as should have been, as an encouragement to their children to attend Sabbath school. , Too many of the parents, I am sorry lo say, are remiss, in supporting the school, and leave it to superintendent and teachers instead of interesting themselves in behalf of their own offspring. Big preparations are on foot for the celebration of the glorious Iourth, as a number of our patriotic citizens feel that we should celebrate at home. Quite a number of committees have been appointed and are laboring to make it a success. There are quite a few who think we should have left our celebrating until the 24th, as a number of our ' neighboring larger settlements will undoubtedly attract a number of our people to visit their friends on that occasion. On last Wednesday, the" 26th, a wedding reception was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs, John King, as their daughter, Jennie I., was on that date married in the Logan temple to Mr. Morgan P. Yeates, son of Bishop Yeates of Logan. A nice spread was partaken of by the friends of the happy couple, and a very pleasant evening was spent by all those present. A number of very nice and useful presents were presented to the young couple. About a week previous another couple of our young folks were united in the Salt Lake temple, namely : Mtr. Merlin Hovey and Lauretta Johnson, Mr. Hovey is now on his way to fill a mission in Germany. i FOURTH OF JULY. R. M. ROLFSEN . ; AGENT.
