Work .is now being pushed on our new school house. A gang of men is busy blasting and hauling rock, and the stone masons are busy building foundations and basement, which is expected to be completed in about ten days, after which the brick work will be pushed. The building boom is still with as some of our citizens have already started and more are getting ready to erect new modern residences. We are generally thankful for rain this time of the year, give us a dry spell so we can get our hay harvested. Lots of hay is already cut and lies now in the fields rotting. Grain is growing alright, and so is the - . but-plea- se weeds. jt Considerable wheat has lately been shipped from Cache Junction. IlYRUM, June 24. The Alumni Association of the nyrum District Schools gave a farewell reception to their retiring president, Alonzo Savage, last week. Mr. Savage has been Alumni president for. the past two years, but has been called on a mission. The affair was held at Mr. Al bert Savages residence, and was a very successful gathering. A purse of twenty dollars was presented by the members to . Mr. Savage to assist him on his mission. The new officers elected are as follows:- - President, Loftie Critchlow; vice president, Hans Anderson; secretary, Hazel Allen ; treasurer, Ruby Hanson ; executive committee; Mildred Ilaws, Lizzie Savage, Alva Hall, George Lauritzen, Anetia Nielsen. Last Saturday the Ilyrum baseball club paid off an old score with the Millville team. They came over with that triumphant, air which a newly hatched college graduate generally exhibits before' he has bumped up against some of lifes realities; and they remarked that they forwere coming to beat the But the conceited eigners. Swedes went hack a wiser but a sadder bunch. Nipe innings were played, and the score stood 5 to 3 in favor of the Ilyrum Danes. It was the finest, most professional game ever played on the Ilyrum diamond. .Wallace Liljeuquist of the nyrum team is certainly a pitcher hard to heat. The way the Millville batters struck the air after the hall had passed through, made some of the spectators remark that those fel lows ought to have a six inch board to hit that thing with. Well, come again,' neighbors. It may be your turn next time. But remember, the foreigners, are not emigrants any wore. sneerers some one. else to attack. The workers in the various organizations as well' as the conservative element of the ward do not take kindly to the idea of having to part with a man whom they had learned to love; bat they bow to the inevitable and hope that the new officers chosen will be able to do as well, and better if possible. They will certainly have an unenviable job on their hands, and it is to he hoped that the sympathy and good will of the people will go out to them, and make their efforts successful. The new bishopric is as follows: Bishop, John J. Facer, at one time bishop bf Avon ; first counselor, Zacharias W. Isracl-se1st ward, brother to A. M. Miss Ella Jensen, who was operated upon for appendicitis some time ago, is doing fine. It is reported that Miss Lizzie Eckliind, who was also operated on for appendicitis is not doing so well as could be desired. We sincerely hope that Miss Ecklund will soon be improving in health.
