On Sunday, May 20th, the ward conference was held here. In the forenoon the records of the various quorums and associations as well as the ward records were inspected by A. M. Israelsen of the Stake Presidency and A. A. Allen and John Jensen, stake clerk. Most of the records were in pretty good shape. In the afternoon some reports were given and an- address by Counsellor A. M. Israelsen. A few more reports were given at night. Authorities sustained, and addresses delivered by Elders Allen and israelsen. By hearing the reports and remarks we learn that the Paradise ward is progressing. The people seem more united; more tithing has been paid than previously. There are no real poor. A good feeling prevails. Memorial services were held at the cemetery at 2 m. on Decoration Day. There was a large turnout. The Alumni Association held a banquet on Friday night at the residence of J. P. James. A sumptuous repast was partaken of and a good time was had in social chat, singing, music, recitations and dancing. The following officers were elected for the coming year: President, Robert Pearce; vice president, Emma Bishop Lofthouse; secretary, Mabel Shipley; treasurer, Roy Shaw. In behalf of the people of the ward Bishop Samuel Oldham in an appropriate speech accepted the gift which the Sisters had so generously bestowed. Conference of the Hyrum Stake will be held in Paradise, June' 22, and 23.
