Peterson, William Balls, and Joseph Waite were, on the previous Sunaay' unanimously sustained by the vote of the people as a standing committee to provide entertainment for the aged. The first party was given on the above date in the following manner: All who .had past tie sixtieth inmilestone of the journey free a cluding widows, were given dance and picnic, and a free ride to the hall and home., again; A1I under that age, andjarried people, were invited; tickets , 20c. The guests arrived on time and without accident, and danciDg commenced promptly at 7:15; and, Mr. Editor, it was a very pleasant as well as a unique Slight, to' see a house filled with the youth ofbygonedayf, ths. brain and brawn of pioneer fame. But, now their enfeebled limbs and hoary locks suggest the thought that in a few more years at most, their grand and useful lives on earth will be oer; hence, what pleasing, blessed thought, that prompted the move to make their latter end pleasant and agreeable to them. There , were a few too sick and, feeble to attend; but they were not forgotten. Another also caused satf regret; that feature was the. enforced absence of our Bishop, C. G. Hyde, who was kept at the bedside of his aged mother, who is dangerously ill at her home. The dance progressed nicely until 9:30, afia then the tables were spread with the good things of earth, and those sixty years of age and upward, sat down and par-toof good "things too numerous to mention. Suffige it to say they did ample justice to thespread, fully as well, ,Mr. Editor, as your self or ye scribe might have done under as favorable conditions.
