Die American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) started the Care Respiratory Quality Recognition (QRCR) program earlier this year to help consumers make informed choices about their health care. ' I under the program ensure patient safety by agreeing to adhere to a strict set of criteria governing their respiratory care services. In order to qualify for the recognition, Ashley Valley Medical Center had to meet the following conditions: All therapists respiratory employed by the hospital to deliver bedside respiratory care services are either legally recognized as compe-teto provide respiratory care services or hold the CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) or RRT ( Registerd Respiratory Therapist) credential. Respiratory therapists are available 24 hours a day. Other personnel qualified to perform specific respiratory procedures and the amount of supervision required for personnel to carry out specific procedures must be designated in writing. A doctor of medicine or osteopathy is designated as medical director of respiratory care services. The AARCs QRCR program grew out of growing concerns among health care leaders and the general public regarding the safety and quality of health care services provided to patients. Hospitals that meet the QRCR requirements provide a level of respiratory care consistent with national standards and guidelines, and should be commended for their commitment to quality care. Respiratory therapists are specially trained health care professionals who work under physicians orders to provide a wide range of breathing treatments and other services to people with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, AIDS, and other lung or lung related conditions. They also care for premature infants and are key members of lifesaving response teams charged with handling medical emergencies. This recognition is another indicator that people can use to help determine if they are receiving hospital services from a hospital that is committed to providing quality care, sa) s Si Hutt, CEO at Ashley Center. Our Medical Valley JCAHO score of 99 out of 100, our ADA certification for our diabetes program, our CAP certification for our lab services, and QRCR status for respiratory care are a few examples of how Ashley Valley Medical Center meets a higher standard of quality care for our patients. nt Mitchell Warrants A3 Wednesday, June 1 8, 2003 Vernal Express e a n F 1 1 c k s Rent A Edited Movie Today New Releases $4 For 5 Days No Monthly Membership Fee 2028 W. 500 N. 781-66- 84 Nifty, Nifty, Look Whos Fifty Love Your Family & - j V- - Theres more to paint than meets the brush! Selecting the right interior paint for your project can be tricky, and can easily leave you disappointed when the final drops have dried. Quality Differences The most widely recognized differences in paint are centered in four categories: ingredients, performance, appearance, and color. Ingredients: Paint contains three major ingredients: pigment, which provides color, binder, which holds the pigment to the surface; and vehicle, which wets both the pigment and binder so they can be applied to the surface. Premium paint can have as much as 40 more pigment and binder than good paint, a difference that you'll clearly see in the finished product. Performance: Key to a paints performance is its ratio of acrylic to vinyl resin. Finer quality paint is high in acrylic properties, which makes it more washable and durable. Your walls will hold their beauty longer, be less likely to show scrapes, and will easily handle frequent washings with the proper consistency of acrylic resin. Appearance: Other than color, that w hich has the greatest influence on the overall appearance of paint is its sheen, or reflective nature. The higher the sheen, the shinier the look, and the more scrubbable the finish. Use the following guideline on paint-type- s: Flat: Provides a beautiful matte coating and will hide minor surface imperfections. Its best used in low traffic areas such as formal dining rooms and master bedrooms. Eggshell: Creates a charming, smooth look with a subtle sheen that is slightly glossier than flat This popular finish is washable and works well in bedrooms, hallways and family rooms that get normal use. Satin: Fashionable and measurably more reflective than eggshell, but its sheen is still subtle enough to bring a rich look to a room while significantly increasing its scrubbability. Choose satin over eggshell for environments that see a higher degree of activity. Semi-glosCommonly used in childrens rooms and high moisture areas such as bathrooms, these paints ensure maximum durability, and display about twice the sheen as satin. Semi-gloalso works well for trim. : Very highly reflective and ideal for detail highlighting, such as decorative molding and trim. If the area receives a high volume s. of abuse, consider Colon The primary pigment in paint is titanium dioxide (Ti02). The higher the ratio of this expensive ingredient, the richer the quality of the color. Low-levTi02 paint may look nice when you apply it, but when it dries it often shows a slight tinge of gray discoloring. Leant your Ti02 level before you paint, not after! Water or Oil? Water-base- d paint has many advantages: low odor, faster dry time, less likely to crack or chip. water clean up, more durable, moisture resistant, richer are paint (alkyds) and more scrubbable. coaling, Alkyds do yellow w ith age.
