It was the first annual SpringSummer Concert featuring all local musical talent. Planning and organizing for the second concert to be held later this year has already been going on for several months. The purpose of the concert is twofold. First, it provides one more venue for local artists to display their talents and gain stage experience while doing a thorough job of entertaining the public. Second, it is a fund raiser for scholarships for local students who wish to continue their studies in one or more of the Spend are services Transportation offered to and from recreational activities at the Golden Age Center and can also be used for medical appointments, shopping, banking and other activities. The bus runs 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The bus makes trips to the west side of Uintah County every Monday, Wednesday and Friday according to Joan Janes, director of the Golden Age Center. Janes said it is often the only opportunity senior citizens and disabled adults from the west side have to come to Vernal to go shopping and do other necessary errands. The Golden Age Center plans on getting a new bus in three or four arts. While the first concert started out small, it is sure to grow rapidly as word of the high quality of the performers spreads. Last year on stage were locally distinguished performers such as Denise Allen, the Plaids, Rebecca Cleavinger and De Ja Vou. This years list of performers is not yet complete but will surely be just as enticing and exciting. What could be better than to spend just a few dollars to be thoroughly entertained, support the arts and help provide scholarships all at the same time? That's what local folks have come to expect from Uintah Arts Council. And thats what Uintah Arts Council delivers, year after year, event after event.
