She is currently serving an mtem-shi- p with Uintah County, handling problems with computer hardware and networking and building desktop computers from basic components. She also builds and maintains professional servers vital to the network. She has been hired as Vernal webmaster and has been asked to update the high school's webpage. - After completing college, Petry plans to become a hardware technician. Along with taking computer classes at Utah State, Petry has token many advanced courses in English and business, including A fepair. She is currently working to attain her A certification through UBATC. Being a Sterling Scholar is a prestigious achievement. She has maintained a GPA of 3.9829. Her class ranking is eleventh in a class of 377. Her ACT scores are English, 30; Math, 25; Reading, 28; Science, 29; Composite, 28. When Julias family relocated to the Middle East, she took it upon herself to learn to speak Arabic. She surrounded herself with native speakers every day. From early on, Karren has had a strong love for music, inspired by her fathers musical talents as a pianist. Regardless of Karrens career choice, music will be in some way connected. She strongly believes in the healing powers of music and wants to use her musical talents to touch the lives of others, perhaps through music therapy. Karren was in Vernal's production of the Messiah. She has sung in the Naples First Ward Choir and the Uintah Stake Choir for four years. She was active in the musicals done at Vernal Junior High: Anne With an E and The Little Princess. By being in UHSs musicals, Les Miserables, West Side Story, and The Wizard of Oz, Karren has demonstrated her dynamic musical talents. Membership in the National Honor Society, yearbook staff, FBLA, German Club, Educational Talent Search, Partners Club, Math Club, Special Olympics, and Whos Who Among American High School Students are just a few of Her Karrens accomplishments. leadership skills have been developed by being the National Honor Society secretary, an LDS Laurel class counselor for four years, and a member of the Student Senate. Her GPA is 3.8838. Raymond stated, I am able to let my imagination become reality in the form of a picture. Through my art, I am able to express my feelings and impressions of life. A career in the area of Visual Arts is my goal. The Sterling Scholar Award will help me in obtaining this. Raymond has taken three years of studio painting. She has completed nine oil paintings, has attend the Chihuly Art Show in Salt Lake City and has visited the Springville Art Museum. She was invited to enter two of her paintings in the State Art Museum Springville Competition. She received an Honors Award rosette from the Utah State Fair for her Quietbook as well as for her Penguins painting. As a sophomore, she submitted a painting to the Uintah County Fair and was awarded a purple ribbon. She has entered two of her paintings in the Western Park Museum Art Show and has received an Honorable Mention for one. She has sold two of her paintings, one for $200.00 and the other for $75.00. has earned the Raymond Certificate of Merit and the Academic Outstanding Achievement Award. She has earned both her Bronze and Silver Medallions and is a member of the National Honor Society. She has achieved the President's Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence.
