Organization for the drive was perfected at a Joint meeting with defense council agencies last Saturday night at the City Hall, with Henry H. Falkner being named as chairman of the drive. 9 A. M . "Speed laws will be enforced hours to the letter, twenty-fou- r a day In Orem, announced City Marshall Rulon West, following a meeting with state highway Superintendent P. L. Dow In Salt Lake City early this week. Fa.r warning to speeders is being issued by Marshall West that no leniency will le giver. Under present laws, the speed limit from Provo City limits to Tenth North In Orem (which Is two blocks north of the Canyon road) ts 40 miles an hour, with restrictions for school special areas, and from Tenth North on to the boundaries of the next municipality north, the limit ts 60 miles per hour. The speed limit on any Orem side street is 25 miles per hour. FOR DEFENSE; JOHN D. LAUDIE For extra business in The principal change provided in the ordinance is a slight in- tion with the main service, a mincrease of twenty-fiv- e cents in the imum rate of $ S5 per month Is minimum charge for individual users. The old rate of $1.25 per month for 10,000 gallons of water used has been replaced by the new rate of $1.50 per month for 15.000 gallons. These amounts must be paid at any time within thirty days from the d le date of the payment. If the amount due is paid promtly a ten per cent discount will be made; otherwise the full fee fixed In the ordinance will be collected. One of the reasons for this Increase In rates Is due to the government demanding the Orem water system and reservoir be continually patrolled during the duration of the emergency, and the added expense of this patrolling will be largely met by this small advance In rates, according to city officials. Rates for Excess Quantities Users who use In excess of an average of 15,000 gallons per month during any three months or quarter period, get the first excess 10,000 gallons at six rents per thousand gallons, and for all quantities used over and above the 10,000 gallon excess are to be paid at the rate of two rents per 1.000 gallons. Payments are to be made within thirty dayg from the commencement of the water period next following.
