Now the business employs thousands of workers, helps to support ten3 of thousands of retail clerks and transportation men, and gives the housewife a better, cheaper soup than she could prepare at home. Republicans are warned that if they want to carry the state they must balance their ticket and name their strongest They haven't any surplus votes to gamble on a dark horse or a long shot." This is no year to take chances. Even a Willkie landslide in Etah could still leave the party several thousand votes short of electing the state ticket. The direct primary makes it difficult for party members to plan a balanced state ticket. In a convention this can be done but, not now hence this message. GOFRM)K IS THE KEY OFFICE The office of Governor is the key office and the nominee is supposed to be the strongest one on the state ticket. It is generally admitted that all five of the Republican candidates now seeking this office are capable of making good records as Governor, so now the problems of utmost importance to every Republican are: Which one can get the most votes in November not who can the greatest get the most voles now; ami which one will ald strength to the ticket? Which man has the I test chance of defeating eiltier Moyle, Man, McConkie or Huggins, one of whom is likely to be the Democrat ie nominee? MOYLE MAW, McCOXKIE OR HIGGINS? To answer this question intelligently we must take into consideration who the Democratic nominee will likely be, his standing in the community, his record, his connections with industry and large groupings in tlie state, and the support he may reasonably expect from a group or groups with which he may be connected or affiliated, and numerous other matters which enter into and make up a candidates strength with the voters. Having analyzed the Democratic nominee's strength, then we should turn to the Republican candidates and analyze them the same way. ME MIST BE REALISTIC To win this year we must be intensely realistic about the whole matter and consider possibilities and probabilities without regard to personal feelings or biases. We must not be misled by the apparent strength of any candidate or candidati s stimulated by lavish expenditure of money or by any great array of hired political workers. Our minds should not be made up by a billboard or a banqueL Our nominee's strength must not d be synthetic. It must come from the support of the people, Buch as nominated Wendell Wlllkle. Having applied the above test, thousands of Republicans have come to the conclusion that Don Ik Colton is the man the Republicans should nominate if they expect to have the best chance of winning the governorship. Some of the reasons which have convinced them are: For Senator Inside Stuff: as Bunch of it.
