Show THE rOlCE OF SHARON Site Hour nf Sljarmt Publrthed wec.fa, at Provo, by th Skoroa Cooperative Edaeatoooal by Utah Valley Pub; whin Company, ST North Uth, Printed Asoociatioo of Orem. West Street, Provo, Utah. Phot The Value of Advertising to the Consumer: Thousands of dollars are lost annually to the consumers of Provo, ami surrounding communities, through ignoring the adveitising in our local papers. Many merchants have observed this fact aiM pointed to instances of loss to purchasers. Most recently is a case in point lrorn Butlers. By inserting a test ad. in both local papers on a well known item which contained a liberal discount to any person who had read the ad. the purchifser could obtain this discount by merely mentioning the ad. m question. The resulas were astonishing. Ten to one of this same tcm were sold at Butlers at the regular price as against the test offering. The same goods, the same prices, everything the same, except that to mention the ad. or to bring it dipped from the papers, would have given the buyer a substantial discount. This ad., inserted in both local jiapers, was a fair test, but the results were practically the same. This sort of thing makes many a merchant wonder if he is throwing away his advertising money. Provo enjovs good local papers. They carry much local, state, news. Society sections tell what you and inter-stat- e want to know about your friends, sport sections inform you of sport activities in Utah ami other states, front page news gives you a comprehensive picture of worldwide and local news items. All these things should be read by all if we would keep abreast of the times. But from an economic point of view, you must also read the ads. It means money in your pockets, and at the same time you get information about things you wear, things for home adornment, food you eat, and many other articles of daily need. Provos stores are loaded with merchandise that many people do not even know are carried. Heres another case in point from Butlers. Two ladies were waiting to be serypd at a local beauty parlor, and a thirb lady, friendly to Butlers, reports this conversation: First Lady : I have to go to Salt Lake to buy my hose. hose, for I wear the Second Lady : I wear also but I do not need to go to Salt Lake to buy them. First Lady: Where do you get them? Second Lady: At Butlers. First Lady: Butlers .must have only recently put No-Me- Baptisms Sunday ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR Sharon ward will be in charge of the regular baptismal service Sunday at 3 p. m. which will be held for both boys and girls of Estimates the Sharon stake at the Utah Stake Administration building in them there for the Lady: Ive part four years. Dont you eve- read the ads? The point is: Had the First Lady read the ads, ar.d there have been many of them, she could have saved herself a lot of trouble, and at the same time been spending her money in Provo to help build Provo. Money spent with home institutions stays at home. Follow vour own dollar around and you will discover that it pays a lot of dollar obligations when spent at home, but if you spend it out of town: Bingo, its gone for Second been-buyin- g - good. Finally may we remind our readers that it costs the merchants real money to carry a message in the newspapers. It costs the CONSUMERS a. lot of real money when they do not read these messages. You can prove the truth of this statement yourself by just a little investigation. It is. infact the loyalty and keenness of many of our citizens which makes this such a desirable town in which to live. You also help make this community of ours mope worth while by doing just such a little thing as reading the ads in the local papers. Besides you save your self money everytime you do so. 471 Eat, Ij 811-- Walls-bur- PIMages $58 g is visiting frith her sister JJDeudt Mrs Kenneth Davis. and Mts Karl Young have returned from a delightful trip to Gallup, New Mexico, where they attended the Indian festiviMr FIRMAGES are famous for the way they help you Balance SAVE NOW ON SCHOOL NEEDS! the Budget. ties.
