' This contest has become an out standing event to Farm Bureau people throughout the state. Mrs. Dora Dean Mathis, Carbon County Farm Bureau Women president, states that this activity is to encourage the improvement of young peoples talents. The talent contest is open to all members of Farm Bureau families under 29 years of age. The talk meet is for those from 18 to 28 years of age. ' The county winners will compete in Salt Lake City at the state fair for state honors. The state winners will receive an allexpense paid trip to Chicago, December 8 to 12, to participate in the national meet at the Nat ional American Farm Bureau convention. Mrs. Mathis encourages any and all eligible persons in the county to prepare to participate in the county event. The exact date will be announced Jater. We have lots of talent here. Let's let tie state and nation hear it, says Mr. Mathis. Bituminous Coal Seen Plan 1 f for. the -- & S AVI MGS SlN5 -- q A market demand for 521 million tons of bituminous coal for 1957 is predicted by the'Committee on Coal Eponomic and Statistics of the National Coal Association. The committee said 516 million tons will be new production and five million tons will be consumed out of stockpiles. The electric utility companies, the industrys biggest customer, will use 107 million tons of coking coal and another 4.5 million tons fOr other purposes, it is predicted. Railroads and cement mills each will use ten million tons, it is estimated. Other industrial users will consume another 100 million tons and retail sales of coal will amount to 48 million tons. This is a total estimated domestic consumption of 445 million tons.
