Show i Pare TE2 DSAGE2T0N Cgtt Separation of College from E!ig!i Recommended r In the report of the evaluation team from the Northwest Associa- tion of Secondary and Higher Schools which was at Carbon College September 27 and 28, several suggestions were made to President Aaron E. Jones for the improvement of Carbon College. It was suggested that all of the improvements should be accomplished by 1961, but that some should come as soon as possible. ' Chief among the suggestions was the separation of the high school from the college. This need was mentioned several times and for various reasons, such as avoiding the quality of governing bodies. It was felt that no institution should be responsible to two governing bodies as Carbon College now is. These governing bodies are the state board of education and the board of education of the Carbon school district. Another on for wanting the separation' would be to take from the college the high school flavor' which can not be avided when there are 600 high school students to 300 college students. Another needed improvement is a substantial increase in the num-- , ber of library books. The college has been spending approximately $1,000 a year for library books. The committee felt that the college should spend $2,000 each year. It was felt that if the college were alone, fewer teachers with less than master's degrees would appear on the faculty list. Now too many teachers have only bachelors degrees. The committee felt that salaries paid in Utahs junior colleges were much too low. . The college was commended for Tuesday, December 4, 1956 TBXBUN2S the direction of Alvin Wardle, will present a new and different kind of concert for the public December 6 at 7 :30 p.m. in the Price municipal auditorium.
