Four years ago, at the age of eight, Nancy had a severe case of red measles. From the measles came brain fever and from this fever leg paralysis. She is now confined to a wheel chair for her local transportation. For twenty seven months Nancy struggled against her affliction in the Shrine Hospital in Salt Lake City. She made some progress but became depressed and was returned to her grandmothers home last fall. She entered school again, after an absence of four years, and has had a perfect attendance record during the present school year. Her sunny disposition has returned and she and her grandmother, Mrs. Sax, are spending many happy hours together. For special relaxation and for a little extra spending money Nancy is deep in the art of bead craft. Little League Spring practice for all Little League players started Monday, April nineteenth, at the Little League field in Dragerton. All boys are urged to attend these daily practice sessions for the ten-da- y period so that they will be ready for the player auction scheduled for the first of May. This will give the managers a chance to view the new prospects before the regular practice sessions of the various teams prior to the opening of the regular season, . Carbon College Student Presents Program Five students from Carbon College presented an outstanding program for the East Carbon Rotary Club at a ladies night meeting last Thursday night at Nick's Club. Dramatic readings were given by Miss Mary Platis of Price and Terry Belshaw of Dragerton. Hu- morous readings were given by Miss Carolyn Anderson of Dragerton and Miss Darlene Sealy and Miss Merlene Powell of Price. All five students are studying under Miss Lucile Rowe, dramatics instructor at the college. The program was presented by Dr. Fred Jones, program chairman. Mrs. Carbon Teachers Credit Union The Carbon County Education Associations Credit Union has now been an operational organization for two years. At the present time there are members. The executive committee is now composed of Harold Duke for the one year term; Perry McArthur and Merrell Neumen for the two year term and Varian Bartholomew and Lillian Oveson for the three year term. Those on the Credit Committee are Andy Anderson for the one year term; LaVar Rasmussen for the second year term; and Verner Stoddard for the three year term. The supervisory committee is composed of Frances B. Aitken for the one year term; Vivian Smith for the two year term and Carmen Lewis for the three year term.
