Semken, chairman of the Carbon County Chapter of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, said today that as the selection of Carbon-Emer- y a polio vaccine trial area marked the culmination of everything we have been striving for in our fight against this disease. Dr. Orson B. Spencers announcement, he said, means that our school children will have the opportunity to help establish the validity, of. a trial vaccine which we hope will provide the control of infantile paralysis. The coal industry is a good case in point. This may have been true a long time ago. It is certainly not true now. Modern mining is a highly mechanized operation. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been invested in amazing machines and miners are their highly skilled operators. The progress made in mine safety has been literally remarkable. New records on top of new records have been established. The Bureau of Mines and other nonindustry organizations have praised coal in the highest terms for this achievement. As for coal labor, it is at the very highest rung of the industrial ladder in the wages paid. And the miners have many other valuable material benefits, including pensions, vacation pay, medical care, and so on. dations dynamic program. SiAILIL IMY CHECKS FA 111 IE Emit "IS Come in!
