UTAH Face 13 Our Coal Appetite Plans Complete (or Preparing Turkeys Greatera Than Our World Community For Thanksgiving Appetite For Food Day Church Service To be Demonstrated Each year, the American people consume some 120,00,0 tons of food. That huge total is needed to energie our collective physical bodies. Yet the food tonnage is dwarfed by our production of another kind of energy. We require four times as many tons of coal to keep industry running, to heat pur homes and buildings, and to 'do the other tasks to which coal contributes in one way or another. Ten years from now, it is estimated, we Americans may need six times as much coal as food. And 25 or 50 years hence coal may be used in quantities which seem inconceivable at present. Some of our greatest industries, notably steel and electric power, are burning coal in New discoveries, amounts. from coals ambitious resulting research work, are finding more and more uses for this immensely versatile commodity. Luckily, we need have no fear that we wont be able to get enough coal. Nature blessed us with enormous underground resources enough to last thousands And where nature of years. coal industry took the stopped, It has the highest-pai- d over. mass labor force in the world. It has developed amazing machines, which do the work of cutting, loading, cleaning and grading. It has established one new safety record after another. It has met every demand, domestic and foreign, right in stride. Coal is used in some form by everyone. And everyone will be using more and more of it as time goes by. ever-increasi- ng I I I i I ! Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hunter, Og- den, visited their daughter, Mrs. Joe Harvey, Dragerton. Mrs. Harvey and her two sons returned to Ogden for a short visit. Plans have been completed for the World Community Day services which will be held Friday, November 2, at 2:00 p.m. in the Price Community Methodist church. Taking leading parts will be Mrs. Curt Harris of Kenilworth, Mrs. Edward Poglajen of Dragerton and Mrs. H. E. Mock, Mrs. Angelo Gavalas, Mrs. Juel Sherman and Mrs. L. E. Averett, all of Price. Mrs. R. W. Robinson, Kenilworth, is president of the Carbon County Council of Church Women, sponsors of the World Community Day services here. Reverend Robert Nicholas of the Episcopal church will deliver a short sermon as part of the prochoir gram and an inter-churdirected by George Garland will sing. Mrs. Bessie Mahleres, Mrs. Clive Kell and Mrs. James Tobey will be soloists with Mrs. W. J. Hillabrant as accompanist on the organ. Choir members are being asked to be at the church a half hour before the services for a practice session. - ch Turkey sandwiches will be served at a demonstration meeting November 2, at 2:00 p.m., in Room 7 of the Price city hall, following demonstrations on killing, dressing and preparing turkeys for home use which will be given by Extension Poultryman Woodrow Jenkins and Extension Nutritionist Etna Miller. The public is invited to go and see these specialists prepare these turkeys for home consumption. With Thanksgiving season only a short time away many people will be wondering whether to cook a whole turkey or to cook a half turkey, especially if the turkey they buy is a large one and their families are small.
