Women interested in this (Continued on Page Four) IT MAY - ' I am writing this brief note to the Community of Dragerton and its citizens in relatiop to the water situation we are faced with dt the present ime. I am advised that the water supply is critically low at this time. Whenever the water supply in an area, especially ours, be comes as low as it is at the present time, the organic solids found in the water increase to a point where it becomes almost impossible to chlorinate and render it safe for human consump- and other sports will be available for all. The afternoon will see a womens horse-shoe- s, tug-of-w- ar, soft ball game, a base ball game and a rodeo. To round up the wonderful activities for the 24th fireworks will be set off and a free dance will be held that night. Come on everybody and join in the full day of fun at East Carbon the 24th of July. AT MARINE HOSPITAL Sun-nysi- de caion, as a picnic grounds not being very sanitary are many or careful with their disposal of refuse and body excretation, this renders a very dangerous source of contamination to the water of Dragerton. When the organic solids in the water as well as the bacterial contamination reach a point that the chlorinating system cannot properly disinfect this water, we can look for a very serious epedemic in this area. For this reason, I would certainly advise the residence of the area to refrain from using the water shed area" ' as a picnic grounds, and 'I would certainly cooperate fully in the water conservation program. The Water situation in Dragerton is in very critical stage. The one and only reason for this situation is a shortage of water. The upper and larger reservoir has a capacity of 20,000,000 gallons. As of today, July 16, there are 10,000,000 in storage. That means that the reservoir is only one-ha- lf full. With that capacity there are only seven days of water supply in storage. With this low supply, the 'water that should be in chlorination at least twenty minutes runs cension. The theme' of the Evergreen conference was Redemption is Our Life. Noted church workers from all parts of the country led discussions and work shops. Among steps forwarded by the Episcopal church is a new instruction series pointing out the duties, responsibilities and privileges of persons about to be baptized, married or confirmed and the parents or sponsors of such persons, the Smiths said. The new series will be used by the Price Valley Episcopal Missions next fall. Another step forward, the Smiths noted, is the new Sunday School lesson series, which is rated as one of the best in the coun- Roniiy Rose Undergoes Traffic Violators to Serious Operation Receive Tickets Teenagers Enjoy Weekend Activities J. nity church guild. Mr. Smith, who has studied and had experience in education, was able to point out the educators as well as the fathers impressions of the new program for both young people and adults. Members of the congregation of St. Barnabas Mission, Helper, attended the Kenilworth services and coffee hour. A report of the laymens conference was made at Trinity church by Mrs. Smith on July 10. Services at Trinity church was held at 9:30 a.m. during July. Word has been received recently by Mr. and Mrs. Lester Rose, Dragerton, that their jon, Ronnie, a marine stationed at San Diego, California, has undergone' a serious eye operation. The injury was brought about a year ago when Ronnie was hit in the eye with a sucker stick. The stick caused a ruptured eyeball, necessitating extensive medical care at the time. As yet the outcome of the operation is not known. Local Water Supply At Critical Stage 3, try. tion. In the past several months, in spite of the fact that chlorination has been maintained at a high level, we have had contaminated water on several occasions. In the future if this low supply continues, the water of this town may become dangerously polluted. For this reason it is necessary for all of us to cooperate in what ever program will be necessary to insure adequate supply of water for culinary purposes. In addition to water conservation which this program is especially aimed, I would like to call to the attention of the residence of the area the fact that many are using the water shed of East Carbon, namely, the A report on the Episcopal church laymans conference held at Evergreen Conference Center, was made in Colorado, June Kenilworth last Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Smith of Dragerton, who attended the confer- Traffic conditions in East Carbon are bad, but they are terrible in Dragerton. f Most drivers pay no attention to road signs or to signals for stopping, turning, etc. The stop sign at the upper end of Denver avenue has been ignored by most drivers.
