Show BOXHOLDER D) f Volume 4 Dragerton, Utah, Tuesday, July 4, 1950 Switchmens Union Refuses Request Of Government To End Rail Walkout Price Moose To Hold Initiation Per Copy 5c Number , 1 JERRY GALBREATII INSTALLED AS ROTARY PRESIDENT FOR 1950-5- 1 t The striking Switchmens Union which has idled near four thousand men in Carbon and Emery counties refused to call off their strike at the request of the federal government.' The strike started June 25 on the five railroads including the Denver and Rio Grande Western. This strike stopped the movement of all trains on the five roads which resulted in stoppage of coal production in the two local counties. The miners are not affected this week because of the 10 day yearly holiday. If the strike is prolonged into next week the men will not be able to return to work. The union said it would assist in arranging movement over struck lines any material deemed essential by the government during the Korean war emergency. The At F. It is hoped that a class of at least fifty candidates can be brought in for the special initiation ceremony which will be held at 3 p. m. A theatre party will be arranged for the ladies. All members and candidates are requested to bring their lady friends to the Moose Hall and receive their tickets. The building was formerly part of the boarding' house. The one section was moved to the location on Drive between D and E sections.
