Dragerton, Utah, Tuesday, December 30, 1947 1 Clothing Drive Is Huge Success Community Church to Hold Youth Rally I ft , The Young Peoples society of the Dragerton Community Church are sponsoring a Young Peoples Rally to which all the young people of Carbon County are invited. This rally will be held New Years Day at tne Dragerton Community Church and will include three services. At 10:30 a. m. the first service will begin with a song service and a time of getting acquainted. At noon the Ladies Missionary Society of the church will serve dinner so you wont have to bring your own lunch. This is being given free of charge by the missionary society. The afternoon service will begin at 1:30 and will be in the form of a Singspiration. Bring any instrument along that you play with the exception of the' piano and organ; you will find those in the church. Immediately following this service there will be a time of recreation, volleyball, basketball, etc. The evening lunch will also be donated by the missionary society. Have you ever been to anything like this before in your life? Be Sure to experience this grand Rally day. The evening vesper service at 6 30 will conclude the program of the day. The guest speaker for the rally will be Rev. Carl Hatch from Sherman Oaks, Calif., who is an outstanding Youth leader and speaker on the West Coast. He is an accomplished musician and will be bringing special numbers on his violin. Young people will find these services inspirational and helpful to them for the day in which we live. Although this is a Rally especially for Young People, all are invited to attend. Sunnydale News Mr. and Mrs. W. A, Lowe of Grand Junction, Colorado, were visitors at the Maurice Daily home for Christmas. They are the parents of Mrs. Daily and they stayed until the day after Christmas when the Dailys took them home. Mr. and Mrs. Daily and their two daughters will stay in. Grand Junction until Sunday, December 28. Pfc. L. Mark Jeffs of the Army Air Force is home on a Christmas furlough. He is stationed at Keesler Field, Miss. He attended East Carbon for four years and played on the basketball team the year they won the trophy. He will return to his base on January 2, where he is to go back to radar school on January 7. Mr. anc Mrs. Victor Delost spent Christmas in Grand Junc- tion, Colorado. Mrs. Frank Sjostedt left Friday for Aurora, Utah to attend the funeral of her uncle. She went by bus and will return the following Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Coletti of Sunnydale and Mr. Colettis brother, Gene, of Dragerton left Tues23, to spend day, December Christmas in Colorado. They will stay until December 26. Cbarlejf Hunter, son of Bob Hunter of Sunnyside is home for Christmas. Charley has been in the Coast Guard for nearly two years and this is his first furlough since he went in. Charley looks swell and everyone is glad : to see him. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Griswold and son, Billy, spent Christmas and the several days follpwing in Salt Lake. . The Welfare .and .the , .local Unions joined finances and treated all residents of Sunnyside and Sunnydale to ,a bag of candy and oranges Mr. and Mrs. Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Odendahl, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Herbert, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Daily, Tommy Mahon and Mrs. Agnes Jeffs spent an evening sacking the 2500 pounds of nuts, 2500 pounds of candy and 15 cases of oranges. They were delivered to the homes. All out of town workers can call at the Sunnydale Homes Office for their sack. . O'CONNOR OCONNOR QUITS AS COLUMBIA MINE HEAD OConnor, known to all as Red, will retire from the Columbia Coal Mine as of December 31, 1947. N. Allied. The Dragerton Theatre gave a free show Tuesday, December 23, fqy all the children in the area and aiked that they bring clothing to this movie. There was an unusually large turnout and many good items of clothing were collected at the theatre. The East Carbon Rotary Club wishes to express their appreciation to the Dragerton Theatre for this fine contribution. ' Mr. Harold Hansen, principal of the East Carbon School, was especially instrumental in this successful clothing drive, The clothing is being packed to be sent abroad. Leavitt, has been asked to name a committee to study the proposition of a new court house for Carbon County. The Chamber of Commerce wants it understood that 'if is merely performing a public service in having a committee ..appointed to make' this study and to submit all the facts at a public hearing of all interested citizens from over the county. A meeting mi this committee has been called for December 29, at 7:30 p. m. in the commissioners room at the Court House. On January 2, a public mass meeting will be held in the district court, room of. the, Carbon County Court House at which time the committee will make its report to the people.
