E: HUISH FULL SPEED AHEAD FOR SCHOOLS GRANITE TIE In a good football game at IN EAST CARBON DISTRICT FOR Col- lege Field in Price last Friday night, the Carbon Dinosaurs came from behind twice to gain a 3 tie with Granite. During the first half of the game, Carbon appeared to be hopelessly outclassed, but during the last half of the game came to life, and appeared to be the better team. Standout players on the Carbon team were Earl Lacey, Dragerton, Danny Campbell, Price, and Phe-li- n Hanna of Wellington. Campbell pleased the local partisan crowd with some outstanding broken field running, while Hanna excelled with his passing and beautiful tackles. It was Hanna, who in the last minute of play threw a long pass completed to Gary Bent who went over standing up for Carbons final score Earl Lacey played a good steady game, and was especially strong on defense. 13-1- At the annual C. E. Huish memorial trapshoot held Sunday at Price, Dr. J. E. Dorman outshot the field of experts to cop the C. The Catholic congregation under ' f Huish Memorial Trophy. During their t month 19 of the boys completed their tenderfoot work and one advanced to second class. The second month 18 boys receded their second class badges and one advanced to first class status. The Columbia Troop now has 10 first class scouts and one has attained the rank of star. Most of the ten first class scouts have now completed the biggest part of the requirements for the star badge. A custom which the Columbia Troop follows is to give the mothers of the boys miniature badges when they receive their advancements. Six of the first class scouts and Scoutmaster Gary Turnbull made the trip to Salt Lake City July 24th to take part in the Centennial Celebration and to share in the activities with all of the other scouts from various parts of Utah. The boys recently have acquired a club house from the government and have had it moved to a more convenient location. Some time in the near future they will have it set up on a- foundation. The tent shown in the above picture was won by the Columbia Scouts in a first aid and signaling contest held at Helper on June 7 at the Sportsman's Rio t. . The tent was donated by the Mutual Lumber Company of Price thru the fu-s- - ry Fish and Game As- sociation. The Columbia Scoutmaster, Mike Turnbull, is known throughout Carbon county for his work in scouting. " He has always been a very active leader end has scent numerous years in scout work. Emil C. Cances is the assistant Scoutmaster. The Columbia Scouts are sponsored by the East Carbon Rotary Club. . The building in itself is beautiful, but the interior is what strikes the eye. It is finished in knotty pine with a varnish finish. The altar is made with rounded contours, and is decorated with skilfully carved wood. The lighting is the most modern that can be installed, and fits very well with the general decoration scheme. Aside from the main hall is a smaller utility hall where banquets and other functions can be held. The church is equipped with a modern kitchen, and other facilities. A big dance is being held on Saturday, September 27, to commemorate this worthwhile project, and to gain funds for its completion. The music will be supThere plied by the Swingsters. will be door prizes and many others. The tickets are one dollar a couple, and fifty cents for extra ladies. Tickets are on sale In front of the theatre every night, and you can turn in your stubs to the person on duty at the ticket stand. L. Doc Jones Impeached Doc Fred Jones, president of the Rotary Club, was impeached last Monday night in an action brought by Clyde Roberts and Emery Olson. After a very heated discussion in which Doc Jones was not allowed to say a word, he was fined. This turned out ,to be a at Emery Olsens. It shindig seemed like Emery, Doc Colombo, Cliff Woodruff and a few of the boys were thirsty and knew no better way" to get a free drink than to impeach Doc Jones who had absolutely no recourse. -- At the tea a few of the boys lost and a few of the boys won.
