Lavoy Esplin, Washington County School Board, they are Just waiting for the "OK" from the contractor and then the students will move. He anticipates a move around the first of the year. The new facility will ac1,200 students where presently the Jr. high has an enrolement of 792. There will also be 38 teaching stations. According to Mr. Melvin James, principal of Dixie Jr. High, "The district is providing the finest building in the area for our . students." The new facility includes a complete Media Center with an intercom and sound system which enables all classes to have piped in music, programs or even TV shows. There is also a mini HIGH IN REVIEW pictured above, clockwise from upper right: mini auditorium, where students will be given opportunity to perform to smaller groups, so they will be able to perform more times and gain greater experience. Below is a shot of inside of the kitchen facilities. The latest in equipment is waiting the use of the school lunch program. At bottom, one of the four main hallways of the new school. There are two Home Ec. rooms, one for cooking and one far sewing with adjoining fitting rooms. Then in the southwest end of the building you will find the music department with a separate Chorus and Band room with practice and music storage rooms. Then as you cross the hall you will find a very massive shop facility. There is a main teacher station in the center with a PA system which will handle a three teacher operation. There are four major areas in p the shop, manufacturing, communications, trans- theatre portation and construction. There is approximately sq. feet in the building which has costed the school board 83,768,383. The origanal estimate on the building was under this figure by $13,385.
