Tooele will face number two ranked Judge in Salt Lake City at 7:30 p.m. The Bulldogs are a top of Region Six with an unblemished mark. The Cowboys from Grantsville begin the second round of region play when they meet Emery at 7:30 p.m. in Grantsville. The Cowpokes will try to avenge an earlier 2 loss to the Spartans. Meanwhile, Dugway and Mt. Vernon will square off in a tilt that will decide who will stand alone a top of Region Eleven Division Two with an undefeated record. Both teams have won all four region games. Game time is 7:30 p.m. in Salt Lake City at the Murray Boys Club. Wendover will face hapless Rowland Hall ) on the Wildcats home floor at 7:30 p.m. Tooele vs. Judge Memorial The Buffs will be trying to keep their region win streak in tact, with two straight over the Bulldogs Friday. But that wont be an easy task, as Judge sports a senior oriented team and a number two rating in the 4-- 0 65-S- 5-- 0 (1-3- state. The Bulldog? are led by 7 Twin Towers Richard Holmes and Tom Lytle. Holmes is the big gun for Judge scoring 21 points per game in the four region wins including back to back 23 point efforts against contenders South and Jordan. Lytle also poses another bit 7 problem for Tooele and can add some scoring punch of his own, 14 points per game. The Bulldog senior also aided the 3A powerhouse with his average performances in consecutive outings against the Cubs and Beetdiggers. Judge will also start Tony Cordova (6 ppg), Danny Del Porto (4 ppg) and Paul Bruns (8 ppg). Cordova, 6-- 6-- (1-3- ), Emery had four starters averaging in double figures in their four contests. As for Grantsville, the Cowboys will look to Mike Ware for some of the scoring threat. The guard ripped the nets for 23 points in the first tilt against the Spartans and 35 points against Union. The senior is averaging 22 points per game. No other Cowboy starter is averaging in double 6-- 6-- 1 6-- figures. Center David Francom is averaging 6.5 points per game while Kirk Matthews adds some punch with 5 ppg. The starting lineup for the Cowpokes is Mike Ware and Jeff Hutchins at the guardline. David Francom will be at center and Kirk Matthews at one forward. John Millward and Mike Warner have 6-- start at the guard spots for the defending state champions. The only common game that differs between these two clubs was against Grantsville. Dugway managed to upend the Cowpokes, in overtime while Mt. Vernon fell, 46-4- 3 and in two attempts. Mustang Coach Carl Roberts said Dugway will have to play their best ball game of the season to beat Mt. Vernon Friday. Wendover vs. Rowland Hall This shouldnt even be a contest. The Lions have been blown out in three region contests and given up the century mark all three times. They did upend hapless Tintic Friday for their lone region victory, Wendover has too much fire power in Tony Spillman (19 ppg) and Derek Dahlstrom (13 ppg) as well as starters Lance Dahlstrom (8 ppg), Donnie Anderson (6.75) and John Mclnemey (5 ppg). been battling it out for the remaining starting forward spot with Millward earning the nod in last Fridays game against Wasatch. Grantsville's defense throttled the number two ranked Wasps last week and if they continue where they left off, could pose a big problem for the visiting Spartans, especially if the Cowpokes shoot better Despite two lopsided wins against West and Murray, the Bulldogs have struggled to remain undefeated with a three point win at South and a four point victory over the Beetdiggers Friday. If Tooele can continue to play the competitive ball they have been playing all year, they should give the Bulldogs fits. But Tooele will have to have good games from DeSpain and Ahlquist along with solid performances from the three guards to keep from getting white washed. Also Tooele will need help off the bench from Thom Gourdin, Rob Kowalski, Dan Silcox and Jason Wanlass to stay in the game. Grantsville vs. Emery This is a rematch of an earlier contest that the Spartans won 65-5- 2 in Castle Dale. Emery has proven it can play with the big boys, 51-4- 68-5- than last week. Dugway vs. ML Vernon This is the match-u- p of the week. Both teams sport an unblemished, mark in region play and have demolished all of their opponents by 20 points or more. ML Vernon is led by senior Mike Lambson. The senior tossed in 23 points against Wendover last Friday and has been one of the major reasons for their early season success. Dugway sports three front court performers that could probably be the best in the state. Robert Argyle (22.5 ppg), Gary Smith (20.5 ppg) and Rob Solomon (15 ppg) are quite active and can handle the ball when called upon. The 4 Smith has recorded 27 and 24 consecutive performances while Argyle added 27 and 28 point efforts in the same contests.
