Roberts Sports Editor Summer Swimming Lessons Offered Grantsville Qualifies Entire Squad For State Championship After a 6-- dual meet record, 6 Jeff Hamm in the number one singles, and John Butler in the number two singles finished second to Lehi players, and Robert Johnson, after dropping his first match of the meet, came back strong to finish in third place and earn himself a spot at State. In the number two doubles, Troy Thomas and Jeff Hutchins advanced to state with their second place finish at region. According to Coach Nelson Lehi is an odds-ofavorite to win the state title, with Manti, Richfield and Grantsville in a tight battle for second through fourth places. The state tourney will be held at Mt. View Saturday. Grantsville finished second to Lehi in the Region Six championships, but did come up with two region titleholders, and the Pokes qualified the entire squad of seven men for the state tourney. In a very pleasant surprise for Coach Don Wayne Nelson, his number one doubles team of sophomore Kelly Clark and fresh-- , man Cary Burr captured the gold medals and will enter the state tournament as region champions. "I was real pleased with the fine effort of Clark and Burr, Coach Nelson said. "They got in a tough match with the Lehi team, and it took them three sets to do it, but they came up with the These lessons will begin on June 6th. Classes will be offered for Beginners (six and over), Advanced Beginners, Intermediates, Swimmers, and three to five year olds. Registration for these classes will open three weeks prior to the starting date. The Tooele Swim Club is now conducting practices for young people interested in competitive swimming at 5:00 in the evening for the remainder of the school year. After school is out, practices will be held in the mornings. The first meet is scheduled for this coming Saturday, May 14, at Cottonwood Heights, with the next meet in Tooele on June 16.
