"We decided this year that we tournawill not have a round-robi- n ment among our teams at the end of the year, Mrs. Clegg said. "Rather than that, we will select girls to represent us on one or maybe two all-stteams. The league president said she expected more player participation in the league this year because of the new, younger division and because the popularity of the sport in the Tooele area is growing. "Last year we had 16 minor league teams and 5 majors, she said. "We think that we will ahve even more girls playing this year. 17-14- 18-1- Another Fish Story Another Point for the Mustangs Fletcher To Tuesday The final home game for the Dugway Mustangs will be played Tuesday, March 1 instead of March 4 as originally scheduled. Janice Clegg, president of the local organization, explained that the league will be divided into three divisions: Microettes, for seven to nine year olds; Minors, 10 to 12 year olds; and Majors, 13 to 17 year old girls. In addition to the new and younger division of girls playing softball, the league now belongs to two larger softball organizations. ' The Tooele league belongs to the Utah Amateur Softball Association and the Utah Girls Softball Association. "Both groups sponsor games in July and we will be competing in those tournaments, Mrs. I mitters. Wildlife biologists will monitor the movements of these animals with radio telemetry devices to find out more about their habits in the park. Once almost wiped out in Utah, the desert bighorn has made a strong comeback with the aid of Wildlife Resources game managers and the cooperation of federal agencies like the National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Management. Today, the desert bighorn is found in several remote areas of southeastern Utah. Wildlife Resources is a division of the Utah Department of Natural Resources and Energy. Bowling Belles '. Utah Big Fish Records Fall Two big fish have made the record books so far this winter according to George McLaughlin, a fisheries biologist for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. Deon Sparks of Randolph, Utah recently hauled in a 4 lbs. 4 oz. Bonneville whitefish at Bear Lake. The new mark breaks the previous record fish of 3 lbs. 6 oz. caught by Max Wixom, also at Bear Lake. John Kirkland of Bountiful, Utah 'hoisted a 1 lb. 7 oz. yellow perch through the ice at Deer Creek Reservoir last month tp set a new record for the species. Kirkland jigged a small spoon just off the bottom to foil the hefty perch. The previous record fish, weighing in at 1 lb. 2 oz. was caught by Shane Young in 1982. Albert Pagel caught a matching fish in 1981. McLaughlin, who keeps the official big fish record book for the state, says many anglers catch record or near record fish without realizing it. He says a brochure is available at Wildlife Resources offices which lists current record fish.
