One problem that often arises is permanent stains that ruin the look of the entire carpet. How can this be, first of all avoided, and secondly, corrected, if a stain does occur? Avoiding the problem is naturally the easiest and most inexpensive. Outlawing certain things from your home will greatly help, those items that cause the most stains. These include especially the dry power drinks you mix yourself with sugar and water. These drinks cause by far the majority of the stains we find in our business. The biggest offenders are the red colored ones, the red dyes are usually instantly permanent when spilled. The coloring in many gelatin desserts is also a good dye, so if these are eaten it would be best to insist they be eaten only at the table and not carried from room to room. If these items are allowed in your home, be sure to get extra protection by having Scotchgard applied after having your carpets and furniture professionally cleaned. This will give you time to wipe up the spilled material before it has a chance to soak in and become a permanent stain. Here again, though, prompt attention to the spill is necessary. If you spill something on your carpet and arent sure how to react, rather than take a chance and worsen the problem by the wrong cleaning substance, call a professional carpet cleaning firm. They will be glad to either tell you how to handle the problem yourself, or take care of it for you. If you have stains on your carpet that are old and permanently set, there may still be hope. A professional can often remove a portion of carpet from a closet or some place and put it where the stained carpet is. Hell cut the two pieces the same size and use the stained piece to replace what he took out of the closet. So you still have a stain, but its out of sight. When purchasing new carpeting, be sure to insist that the carpet layer leave you the scraps, at least the larger ones. You already paid for them, so theyre rightfully yours anyway. Keep these handy for patching areas as mentioned above. They may be looked at as a nuisance laying around your basement, but they may just end up saving the replacement cost of your were all interested carpet.
