(60 mme ) 4.30 O TIME OUT WITH RY "Stowaway" WHAT THE WOULD remember well the first couple of years after America became involved In the Vietnam war. Students and younger Americans began protesting our involvement in the war, and many of the protests became violent It was about this time that Jackie DeShannon recorded a song that went straight to the top of the charts: What The World Needs Now Is Love". The song speaks to a great need in our world, and its been one of my favorites through the years. I heard the song on the radio again the other day. Somehow it seemed more meaningful than at any time before. What the world needs now is love, sweet love; that's the only thing that there's just too little of." In light of the present Iranian crisis, I could only think of how appropriate the philosophy of this song is to today's problems. The Iranian people are showing us all what hate can do. Hatred stirs up strife we read in Proverbs 10:12. . . and the strife grows more intense each day the American hostages are held captive. Even we Americans are beginning to show hate, all because people can hate so deeply and concentrating on such will rub off on us if we aren't careful. We are entering the season of the year when our thoughts are turned to peace on earth and goodwill to men." What kind of peace and goodwill might we look for this holiday season and the days to come after? This year peace on earth" hinges delicately upon every decision of a Moslem madman. The love humanity needs so much seems very far away. As our daily prayers focus on this situation, may we ask that God would use this crisis to show the world how great and powerful His love is. May we also pray for God to use us as instruments of his love, that through us might be seen the more excellent way now and each day of our lives. movh COMEDY-OftAMA) MYWUIMU NEEDS NOW WEEK fl MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS Robert MacNeH ol the MacNall-Lehra- r Report' hoata this diacuaaion on the role ol largo international corporations in contemporary America.
