Show Timm-- For Trooper Shooting Incidents Tniiwn'iit, TliurvLiy, Auju4 30, 1070 I 3 Father And Son Handed Sentences A Tooele man was sentenced to the Utah State Prison and his son to the Youth Development Center in Ogden Tuesday in connection with the shouting of a Utah Highway Trooper in October, 1978. Pablo be Roy Borrego, Sr., 37, 116 North First Street, was sentenced to lto-1years in prison alter pleading guilty to one count of aggravated rubbery. PABLO BORRECO JR, was sentenced by 1st District Juvenile Court Judge L. Kent Bachman, who had found him guilty of attempted criminal homicide and two counts of robbery. He had been at the Youth Development Center for evaluation during the past two months. Judge Bachman told center officials that although the boy had been committed to the center, they could put the youth into an alternative program as early as it was convenient. Even though the Judge does not have the authority to determine the length of stay in development center, juvenile court judges and center authorities have an agreement that a youth 5 CHRISTA ANDERSON Christa Bell Anderson MRS. HAMMOND Vera M. Hammond Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Vera Dorothy Madill Hammond, 61, of Lake Point died August 28, 1979 in a Salt Lake City hospital of cancer. Mrs. Hammond was bom December 27, 1917 in Hunter, Utah to John and Nora Rasmussen Madill and married Wayne E. Hammond, Sept. 7, 1938 in Tooele. A member of the LDS Church, Mrs. Hammond is survived by her husband. Lake Point; one son, Du Wayne V. Hammond, Lake Point; one daughter. Mis. Cary (Judy) Bonza, Magna; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Mae) Booth, Tacoma, Wash, and one brother, M. A. Madill, West Jordan. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 1 in the Tate Mortuary Chapel, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at die mortuary. Burial will be in the Valley View Memorial Park, Hunter, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society. Christa Bell Anderson, 3, died August 28, 1979, in a Salt Lake City hospital following heart surgery. Miss Anderson was bom October 21, 1975 in Salt Lake City to John W. and Cheryl K. Anderson. She b survived by her parents; one sister. Sherry; two brothers, Donny and Michael John, all of Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Cailey Anderson, Crantsville; great grandmothers, Mrs. Elva VanNoy, of Crantsville, and Mrs. Pearl Pugh, Montana. Funeral services will be held Friday August 31, 1979 at 1:00 p.m. in the Crantsville 2nd Ward Chapel. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Crantsville Cemetery. Brice P. Beck Brice Pixton Beck, 18, the son of Calvin R. Beck and Nelda Harris, who are former Tooele residents, died in a Seattle hospital early Tuesday. Brice was bom with a heart ailment and has been under constant care of heart specialists. Swan reduced the original sentence of the father from five yean to life to the 140-1prison term. The plea came after defense attorney Ruliert VanSciver asked the judge to reconsider and impose sentence for a second degree felony, instead of the first degree felony. VanSciver said testimony in the boy's trial raised a question as whether the first degree felony of aggravated mldiery was accurate. . . The motion was granted by Judge Swan. Despite a letter which the elder Borrego read apologizing for his actions during the criminal incident and asking the court for a chance to return to work to he could provide for hit family. Judge Swan said the seriousness of the act warranted a prison sentence. THE SHOOTING incident started when Trooper Evans attempted to arrest the elder Borrego on MS near Farmington for public intoxication.
