Return Demolition work began Wednesday on the comer of First North and Main to prepare the way for a new Tooele branch of the Walker Bank and Tmst Company. WALKER BANK property manager Herbert Wilcox said construction wilt begin soon on the 3000 square-foo- t building planned for the comer that was occupied by Als Cafe for many years. According to Wilcox, the new branch will probably mean more jobs for local workers. IM SURE the bank will be hiring tellers and clerical personnel from the Tooele area, he said. The new bank, to be built at a planned cost of nearly $300,000 will push not only Als Cafe, but a vacant, brick office building and two vacated homes facing East First North off the corner. WALKER Planning Division staff member Lynn R. Williams explained Tooele appears to be a promising area for the banking firm. First, we already have many customers and depositors m that area, he said. SECOND, the ratio is quite high compared to the state as a whole. Williams said the company was encouraged by the fact that Tooele has had a downtown beautification program that shows concern about making the city a nicer place to live and work appointment to participate in the blood bank should call the previously mentioned numbers. . Queries Doctors Ask Tooele physicians, members of the Family Practice Group, Wednesday expressed concern that health survey forms necessary for the groups application for a health grant have not been returned. Dr. David Carr said only a fraction of the questionnaires asking various questions about personal health had been returned by Tooele residents who were chosen at random to fill out the forms. THE INFORMATION on the questionnaires must be sent into the Johnson Foundation in order for Tooele county health services to receive a funding grant that could provide a significant in local health improvement care, according to Dr. Garr. There has been more interest shown by federal and private in the developorganizations ment of rural health care systems that utilize a approach, Dr. Garr explained. WE HOPE that those who have received questionnaires and either forgot or decided ndt to bother will help us by send-- j ing in the information, the doc-tor said. He stressed the reports need not be signed or identified in any way and that all personal health information is held confidential. family-centere- i Allen Peterson begins the demolition job on Als Cafe on the comer of 1st North and Main.
