Traveling among the Indians with Pasrjuinel, you meet explorers, military men and settlers. You set up a trading post with one of these settlers, Levi Zendt, and live with him through tragedy, mismanagement, two loves and the growth of a family. You see the land settled, irrigated and cattle brought in. You face the battle between the cattle men and sheepmen and later between the open and closed range. The Tooele Transcript, Friday, June 13, 1973 Book Review By Barbara Join Vaughn Centennial is a story of the history of Colorado, as told by a master story teller James A. Michener. Don't let its 900 pages put you off. When starting this book, you may feel that each section could stand alone as a short novelette, but soon you will see the stories start to build upon one another. Michener first takes you back to prehistoric times to introduce you to the eailiest inhabitants of the area; the graceful diphxloeus, the tiny titanothere, the ferocious tyrannasaurus ami others. Then he proceeds forward, introducing the horse, buffalo, beaver, rattlesnake, and finally man. In each instance, Miclyner tells the story of a family of animals in order to give you an idea of how the animal lived. Remember?
