THEOBALD roporU that the theme for this years fonim was "Step into tomorrow" with emphasis cm the 4 II program to fit the needs of today youth, litis updating has lieen ammitlihed hv offering many and varied projects such as photography, vnowmobiling, automotive and geology projects along with the animal, cooking and sewing projects that are lainihar to 4 llert As the delegation from Colorado put it "It aiut all cookin' and cows. Many adults who are capable of leading a project did not wish to lie involved in the recreation side of 4 II. It is for this reason that community tlulis have lieen organized in many areas. Dr. John F. Cilligan, professor of Psychology at the U of I presented a series of lectures and experiments on the subject of learning aliotit People. He presented thoughts on how to letter iindcrdand and communicate with people, lie pointed out that each person Is different liecause of his values, experience and attitudes and that true communication is based on uiicirrstanuing mese cnncrences. Dr. Ccne McMurtry, Director of Virginia Polylech introduced a new program of Community 1 Resource Development which is aimed at involving youth in meaningful community projects. MRS. THEOBALD stated "I felt that the leaden Fonim this year was very helpful to me as a local leader. I enjoyed meeting and discussing problems with delegate from other states. I learned that liasicalty we all have the same type of problems, namely: How to involve more young people and how to find good leaders.
