EVERYONE KNOWS, he says, that plants use light in the process of photosynthesis. But, few people (except farmers, perhaps) know that light controls the reproductive cycle, of many animals and birds. (Length of daylight hours, for instance, triggers fertility in sheep once a year.) Light, he says, has a very adverse effect on many of the common dyes used by textile manufacturers, he says. AND LIGHT is a primary concern in the development of new drugs and cosmetics many cannot be used in the presence of light. (Skin disorders are a common reaction.) Under certain conditions, light can kill. Kaomy To Study Light Daylight savings time gives us .nore light hours for daily pursuits, and a University of Utah professor is spending his extra light hours researching just that light. DR. JOHN D. Spikes, professor of molecular and genetic biology is not trying to find a way to put more light into each day even daylight savings time cant do that But hes using his extra light hours to find out more about the visible light from the sun which brightens up the world around us and enables us to see.
