Of Service If there could Ik? oik? word that would tiun up the Itfe of Ted Gillette it would prulwlily Ik? wrviee. s, A wirey, energetic mail with a deep love for Ted owned and operated two of Tooele's necessary tlic taxi service oikI the aiuUiLiK-- service. services It was the latter which I trough! him fattK? as he stood a watchful vigil with his amlHiIuncc while such drivers as Craig Breedlove, Art Arftxis and Mickey Thomjivin raced for world records down the salt at the Bonneville Raceway. These men knew Ted well, liked him and were his friends. They trusted him, even with their lives. Ted apM?ared in several motion pictures and television programs, always as his colorful and likeable self. Although nearly everyone luu seen or heard of Ted's contributions to the Bonneville Salt Hats (he was prolialtly .the best known Tone lean in tlse whole county to the outside world) few people saw him in his less glamorous lmt . necessary role as tlse county's amlmlance driver. Only those . who have had the misfortune to lie hurt in accidents on the county's highways really know how faithfully and skillfully Ted performed fsis fob. Tooele Comity deputies and Tooele City Policemen will testify that Ted was always there when he was needed with his speedy ainlMilance and first aid skills. The saving of life was almost a daily routine lor him. To an officer investigating a tiad accident, no mar was ever more welcome than Ted Cillette. But Ted's service extended further than his Ixisines or his fob. lie was genuinely interested in his ndghlxirs and his community. He served as a Tooele City Councilman and at the time of his death he was President of the Lions Club. He was an active niemlier of the Tooele County Chamber of Commerce and served as a past president of the Chamber. He provided leadership to his community and gave his time. unselfishly of his most valuable possession Now Ted has finally run out of time. He will lie long remembered and sorely missed.
