According to Clarence J. Seitz, social security district manager in Salt Lake City, approximately 400 older people in the area have not yet applied for coverage under the new hospital and medical insurance programs. And is the deadline - May 31st approaching. Mr. Seitz pointed out that individuals 65 and older may be covered under medicare even if they are not eligible for monthly social security benefits. He added, however, that the coverage is not automatic and requires the befiling of a simple application fore the deadline. Mr. Seitz also cautioned younger family members to make certain that social security beneficiaries have returned the medical insurance enrollment card mailed to everyone over 65 on the social security and railroad reFailure to file tirement rolls. on time, or to an application return the enrollment card, may be costly, Mr. Seitz noted.
