Today, this picture has changed. Sound and realistic safeguards looking toward a reduction in your risk factor can be prescribed. IT IS IMPORTANT to remember that no hard and fast guarantees can be offered. But in most instances the individual can vastly improve his chances of avoiding or at least delaying heart attack by observing these reasonable precautions: 1. Reduce if overweight. Excess weight is accompanied by a higher risk to your heart and health. Remember that a doctor is the only one qualified to tell you how to reduce. 2. Reduce fat consumption. Reduction of caloric intake by decreasing the amount of ordinary fat in the diet will not only help prevent obesity but will usually lower blood cholesterol as well. 3. CONTROL high blood pressure. If your doctor finds you have this disorder he will be able in most instances to bring it under control. The measures used in most cases include drugs and diet changes. 4. Stop smoking cigarettes. In studies of various population groups, it was found that death rates from heart attacks in men range from 50 to 200 per cent higher among cigarette smokers than among depending on the amount smoked. j 5. Exercise regularly. Regu- - Installation Members of Exemplar Preceptor Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at the Kirk Hotel Coral Room for a dinner, prior to the installation of the newly elected officers for the coming year, and the pledge ritual ceremony, Tuesday. Honored guests were Donna Chriss and Doris Hall, who have completed four years of Ritual of Jewels membership, participating in regular chapter activities, including of required cultural program work, and have now com pleted an additional six years of active membership in the Exemplar chapter. A cycle of six programs is required for advancement to 'Exemplar Pre ceptor status. Exemplar Preceptor is the highest degree attained in Beta Sigma Phi. A very impressive candlelight ceremony for the installation of officers and the Pledge Ritual was held at the home of Helen Stoker. The Department of Fish and Game said some 3500 adult birds made up these latest releases. THE BIRDS came from the Springville and Price Game Farms where they had been raised and matured through the past year in a continuation of the program to establish this upland game bird species in Utah. Since many of the birds were at a peak of the laying season when the releases were made, they are expected to nest and rear young in the wild this year. Plants in the northern part of the State were made on Pilot Mountain, Desert Range, near Etna and on the south end of the Grouse Creek Mountains. In the eastern area, birds were released near Cisco, Hansen Creek, Lake Canyon and Red Canyon. All of these birds came from the Price Game Farm. in other parts RELEASES of the State were made near Piute Reservoir, Warm Creek, High Rock, Cahlk Creek, Toand Ashley Mountain paz Creek. Eggs taken from the adult brood birds prior to their release are now in brooders and most of the young birds from these eggs will be released' at nine to ten weeks of age this summer, with about 5,000 to be held at the farms as brood stock for the 1965 program. During the 1964 season, the chukar record shows 16,090 hunters taking a total of birds. Although speaking of the traffic sign situation, generally Mr. Ellis words apply particularly to rural areas. There, traffic signs, or the lack of them, are, a serious problem. Frequently, stop signs or caution signs are located so close intersections or to dangerous curves that they seem to act to drivers only as reminders who are already completely familiar with the roads and who have already begun to slow their speeds before they reach the signs. A stranger, on the other hand, frequently finds that the signs offer insufficient warning and that he is already upon the danger spot before he has had time to reduce speed safely. narrow white NEW NYLON 7.50x14 16.67 Lifetime Guarantee! plus tax & exchange Julie Andrews, famed star of Broadways "My Fair Lady and "Cameloti plays her first role on the screen in , Metro- - "The Emily, Goldwyn- - Mayers Americanization of "SWIRLS Colorful in Wraparound or in Shift 5.95 to 10.95 Other Styles in Dolly Myers and and Marta eD Shifts!
