Tooele swimming coach for the past twelve Uigh Pratt will not be guiding the fortunes of the Water Buffaloes this year. WITH HIS retirement goes the most fantastic record ever compiled by a Utah coach, and one that will probobly remain untouched for years to come. At least it will take ten years to beat it. It took Pratt just two years to develop Tooele swimmers into a State Championship team. In his first year of coaching, 1953, Pratt and Tooele finished second to Grani'e, losing by 39 . In 1954 he came points, close to dethroning the perenial state champs. Granite, as the Buffs again finished second. This time the margin was just . three points, In 1955 began the greatest domination in Utah high school sports as Tooele swept to their first championship, winning over Granite 103 and one-hal- f to 39, and for the next eight years the Buffs, under Pratt's coaching were the undisputed champions. fSl HOUSEWIVES me-djl- s, 882-028- Were and Winters Coming osicfoa By Andy Roberts By Andy Roberts by decreasing the amount of ordinary fat in the diet will not only help prevent obesity but will usually lower blood cholest erol as well. Both goals are con sidered beneficial to general health. Another method of lowering blood cholesterol, according to the statement, is controlling the amount and type of fat in the diet, without changing caloric intake. In the usual diet eaten by Americans, a large part of the fats has been of the satur ed (animal origin) type. Too much of this type of fat tends to increase the cholesterol in the blood. Buffs Play Bingham Friday in Tooele MR. WILSON By Andy Robert It will be the "New Look" at Tooele High School, when the The Bingham Miners com tt Tooele this Friday afternoon at 2:30 pm., in a vital football game for the ambitious and surprising Buffaloes. TOOELE HAS reached the halfway point in league play and at this stage they are lied for the lead in Division One with Jordan and Judge Memorial all with 21 records. Jordan and Judge were figured to be on top, but hardly anyone expected Tooele, and their junior dominated squad to reach such lofty heights - at least not this year. Whether they can win the Division, now rests squarely on their shoulders, because among three teams lett on" the Buff schedule are both Judge and Jordan. But for this week, and as far as coach Dean String-haand Tooele is concerned. Judge and Jordan are not even on the agenda. The only thing Tooele is worrying about is the invasion of the potent Miners, A win over Bingham would pin the label of "Championship Game on the Judge game in Tooele (30 Oct.) and the Jor-th- e Ln game at Sandy (6 Nov.). A loss and the Buffs will be knocked right out of the run-fromng. Tooele's high position in the league standings can be attn-wh- o buted to two factors their improved ground attack, and their ever improving defense, Gary Dalton, the junior bulldoz- in8 fullback and hardworking Kim Murray, senior halfback are two big reasons Tooele has been able to move the ball on he ground. In the three 8ue games Dalton has carried the P'gskin 38 times for 201 yards, or over five yards per season swimming opens. Tooele's swim team will be without the state championship crown they have worn for the past nine years, and there will be a new personality guiding squad for the first time in 12 years. Their crown was wrested Tooele last February by East High, and the new coach is personable Tracy Wilson, has taken over from Leigh Pratt. Wilson is only the sec- ond coach in Tooeles swimming history.
