Invitation Extended to Enter Flower Show Sports Seeing ( With Dean 5 By KSL v Spertscsster Dean Brnnett C) Got away for a brief vacation last week. It was all too brief with the wonderftil vacation land In Utah Just waiting to be seen and visited. Our only visit was to the Uinta Mountains with the boys and a fishing pole. The most we caught were mosquito bites and a fair sunburn. But it was relaxing and the company was great. g You know, the old saying If you can't hook a bait, cant hook a fish" is certainly true. For, while bait fishing is probably the least complicated way to load a stringer, the secret to success lies at the juncture of hook and bait. Listing the most frequently used baits, the fishing you lads around our parts have provided some of the most effective ways of hookin' up." For worms, run the hook lightly through the collar, using a single worm for trout and panfish, two worms for bass and walleye and a whole gob for cat- 7 fish. Fine thread will do the job and permit the bait to float in a lively, natural fashion. With minnows, the hook should be slipped under the skin just aft of the dorsal fin. This is the best method for still fishing and most casting. With frogs, tie the hook to the back just behind the front legs or use a purchased bait sling. And all through, choose hooks made of light wire, and depending on the bait used and fish sought, select the smallest size possible. Baits so hooked are injured only slightly and remain spry for longer periods. Just give the bait a chance. The fish will do the rest. Toocls County it having s Fair.
