Mutual Married Of Tenth Ward To Meet Sunday Expert to Direct Fund Drive TWO PAGES of the publication are devoted to pictures of the band members and officers. There also are pictures of director Lee Caldwell, Superintendent Sterling R. Harris, Principal Carl R. Evans, and Alex F. Dunn, publisher of the Transcript and Bulletin. A full paragraph is devoted to Mr. Dunns contribution to the accomplishments of the community and of the band. An account is also given of the bands trip to the Worlds Fair in Seattle. THE FULL TEXT states: On August 16, the 1962, Tooele High School Band appeared with Governor George D. Clyde, state dignitaries and the famed Mormon Tabernacle Choir at the Seattle Worlds Fair to commemorate Utah Day. To do this required community support and finances. Doing a tremendous service to the band, Editor of the Transcript-BulletiAlex F. Dunn, undertook to raise the entire cost of transportation through donations by individuals and business. He exceeded the required amount. Mr. Dunn is an extraordinary citizen in that he lends his powerful influence to numerous worthy fund - raising projects including Boy Scouts, Church, polio and others. His help comes without thought of personal gain or wish for praise. He is completely sincere in his efforts to benefit the community and his labors have enriched Tooele in its growth and development more than any one man who has ever lived here. He has been a true friend of the instrumental program during the entire time a band program has been included in the schools. THE CONCERT of the band at the fair was highlighted by the appearance of Mr. Egil Sm vig, Seattle composer, as guest conductor of his composition "Captains Log. The program included Handels Water Music Suite, Finale from the Symphony in F Minor by Buglers Holiday by Anderson, Beguine for Flutes by Osterling, Serenata by Anderson, and Captains Log by Smed-viTschai-kowsk- Due to increased enrollment this year, the high school instrumental program has been reorganized into three units. A high school training band, a hundred and two piece concert band, and a fifty piece advanced wind ensemble. At the close of the Crusade in Tooele, he will conduct a similar Crusade for the Trinity Methodist Church In Kearns, Utah, which has recently built an educational unit Dr. Wilson, as part of his services. will preach at the 11 a.m. worship services on June 16 and June 23. His sermon subject on June 16 will be Ministry of Money". In the afternoon of the 16th, he will conduct a training session for the canvassers who will be making visits on June 23 and 24. In the evening of June 16, Dr. Wilson will talk at a joint group meeting of members and workers of the Sunday School and the Methodist Youth Fellowships. The Wendover bombing and gunnery range which Is being used by Air National Guard units has been in limited use because of the weather. Gunnery and practice combing exercises and night photography using flash bombs is scheduled for the next several weeks. The flash bombs can be seen for great distances on clear nights the Air Force reports. The aircraft are operating out of Hill Air Force Base near too many occasions, Mr, Parker reports.
