Laura Pickett Civil Service Mrs. Laura Pickett received a personal letter of appreciation from Colonel Cecil M. MacGregor, commanding officer. Tooele Army Depot, in a retirement ceremony recently. Mr. Orvill Mooberry. depot comptroller, presented Mrs. Pickett with the letter of appreciation. An employee of the Finance and Accounting Division, Mrs. Pickett is retiring after twenty years of Federal service. She entered the government service April 1943 at the Deseret Chemical Warfare Depot as a junior clerk and was transferred to Tooele Army Depot in May 1955 and has won successive merit promotions through the years. She has worked in varied capacities of finance and accounting work during this time. Mr. Mooberry said that by her hard work, untiring enthusiasm and conscientious efforts, Mrs. Pickett has created a distinguished record of service and has made a significant conttibu-tio- n to the attainment of the Comptroller Office's objectives at the depot and Mrs. Pickett carries with her the best wishes of her fellow employees. Mrs. Pickett stated that she will now be able to spend more time with her eleven grand children and is looking forward to having more time to spend with her church and civic activities. color-perfe- Sport shirts, 2.98 to 6.95 Lutherans to Hold Bible School First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tooele, will be sponsoring once again the popular "Vacation Bible School at their church, beginning Monday, June 3. The school will last for two June Monday thru Friday. Classes will begin at 9 a.m. and close at 11:45 a.m. THEME FOR this years VBS is under Walking With God, which will be taught on the basis of scripture such basic truths as Children of God . . . "Learn His Way, Trust in Him, "Speak to Him, 'Listen to Him," Respect Authority," "Are Kind and Forgiving,' Respect Property Rights,' Speak Good of Others, 'Are Content." Besides Bible study, regular time will also be devoted to projects, singing, and recreation. Some eight teachers, including helpers and the Pastor, will be in charge of the VBS program. Vacation Bible School will be open to children and youth, age 3 to 14. The members and Pastor at First Lutheran hope a goodly number of children from the local community will find it possible to attend again this year. Some sixty children were enrolled last year. THERE IS NO enrollment fee. Cost will be met by the childrens offerings to be gathered at the regular opening devotions. Lunch will be provided by members of First Lutheran. The purpose of VBS is to give our children and youth an opportunity to devote an extended period of time to learn about their Lord. His Word, and His Will, and to enjoy also the whole some Christian atmosphere which is promoted by activity such as this, Pastor Nast states. First Evangelical Lutheran Church is a sponsor of the television series, This Is The Life and the radio program, The Lutheran Hour, Bringing Christ To The Nations.
