E. MAJOR General Maxwell Rich, Utah Adjutant General and founder of the bantam basketball Drogram which is sponsored yearly by the Utah National Guard, said the Salt Lake meeting was one of 27 such meetings scheduled for cities throughout the state where National Guard armories are located. Brig. Gen. Maurice Watts, statewide chairman for the program, said bantam basketball, now in its into fourth year, has developed one of the best character building programs offered the young people of the state. Bantam basketball has proved such a successful public service under auspices of the Utah National Guard that several other states have adopted the program and patterned operations after that set by the Utah National Guard. As originally organized, the ban-'abasketball program was open only to youngsters in the Salt Lake area However it has grown and expanded under Major General R;ch and his staff to a state wide level, making use of 27 Utah National Guard armories from Smithfield in northern Utah to Odar City and St George in the southern part of the state. MAJ. GEN. RICH said more than 1,400 young boys between the ages of 11 and 13 years are expected to participate in the program this year. Home town team position trials will be conducted through December. Actual play begins early in January and the Tournament will be held in Salt Lake City in March. All young men in the state between the ages of 11 and 13 years interested in the Bantam Basketball program, are invited to visit their nearest Utah National Guard armory for detailed information, Ban- 1 -- HOME BUILDERS MODERN Banlam IIoop Plans Mapped by National Guard Tooele Maj. For 16G Indian rupees you can buy 35 American dollars. What this means is that as far as all other countries in the world are concerned, the American dollar is as good as gold, according to the National Chamber. With about half the free world's supply of gold, it seems unlikely that the U.S. would renege on its pledge to redeem dollars with gold, the National Chamber believes. But suppose some countries hought there was a possibility of the U.S. reneging. Then they would prorit by changing dollars into gold as fast as possible.
