For Your Convenience oOo The hot spot in Tooele County today is the Treasurers Office. Most of the taxpayers didn't examine their valuation notices, but when the tax notices arrived, there has been the devil to pay ever since, and the County Treasurer and his staff have been in the center of the abuse. Sir. Adams has nothing to do with the amount of your tax. His responsibility is only to collect what the other fellow levies. All the bad talk in the world doesnt do you any good, as far as he is concerned, he hasn't the power to either add or take away one ponney from your tax amount. The Treasurer and his office force have a terrific five weeks ahead of them. Give them the good word, and save your bad feelings for where it will do you some good. There are two ways to increase taxes either make a higher tax levy or increase the 'valuation of the taxable property. oOo Mr. B. L. Sackett, now of Salt Lake City, but for many years head of the Tooele Smelter, was in Tooele Wednesday, shaking hands with his many local friends. He came here especially to visit his old friend and associate, Howard Smith, who has been bedfast for several months. Mr. Sackett reported that he and Mrs. Sackett have spent a delightful summer having their two sons and daughter and their six grandchildren, all together for the first time in several years. Each of their three children have contributed an even two to their posterity. They spent delightful days with them, including a trip to their old fishing grounds in Idaho. In a comment on the present strike situation in steel and metals Mr. Sackett was of the opinion that foreign competition has forced a grave situation on the competitive status of all metals and this factor must determine the final settlement. From here out out problem is to be competitive with the world. EIGHTH WARD Tuesday, Oct. 27, 10 a.m. Social science. Bernice Smith. Baby sitter. TENTH WARD Monday, Oct. 2G, 10:30 a.m. Social Science.
