The program, which is largely financed through the Federal Aid to Wildlife Restoration program, will, in the next year, clear 5200 acres of land in Daggett, Millard, Sanpete and Washington Counties. This project, under way the past month in Millard County, was undertaken to improve range conditions on state owned tracts, Much of the land to be cleared is now covered with pinion pine and juniper, both of which are poor foods for big game animals or domestic livestock. In many spots these larger plants have literally choked out the preferred browse plants such as cliffrose and bitterbrush, saltbush which have been unable to compete for the necessary water to sustain growth. The clearing operation, which caterwill utilize two large (D-pillar tractors equipped with drag cables and hula dozers, is a result of range reseeding research conducted by the Dept, of Fish and game in conjunction with the U. S. Forest Service for the past three years. The research work has been conducted at the Intermountain Forest and Range Experiment Station in Ephraim. four-win- CARPET CLEARANCE D SIZE SPECIAL NOW g 7) (6 MONTHS TO PAY) All MEDICINE ..CABINETS Range Reseeding Program Begun By Game Dept. 775 About 16 per cent of the residual fuel oil turned out by US refiners, and about 13 per cent of the nations production of natural gas, went to generate electricity in giant power plants during 1954.
