Crayton Johnson, who has been confined to the Memorial hospital in Las Vegas the past six weeks is slowly improving in health. Lytle were notified that their son Ver-de- ll of Lynwood, Calif., had won the silver cup for speech making for the fourth time at the Toast' masters club in southern California, of which he is a member. Verdell has been invited to the Eighth Foxhole reunion on the tenth anniversary of the squadron in New Guinea. The reunion of the squadron, which was disbanded in 1946, will be held August 9 at Turkey Run Inn at Marshal, Ind. The boys were in New Guinea when the Japanese were playing havoc on their way to the U.S.A. Miss Lillie Langford and Diane Doyt of Overton high school, graduates of Wednesday, each won the scholarship from Clark County Medical association to train as nurses. They were honored at the garden room of the Sands hotel at a luncheon, and received their scholarship Thursday. The graduating class of Moapa Valley high school put on some entertainment in their graduating exercises Wednesday night in the form of a musical fantasy entitled "Festival Time in the U.S.A. The fantasy, written and arranged by Principal Grant M. Bowler, took the 26 grarduates on a tour of the U.S.A., going to Washington, D. C., by way of Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. Musical songs and tableaux typical of each state were carried out very effectively by the expert entertainers in costume under col' orful lighting arrangements and impressive stage scenery. The auditorium was packed with spectators from all parts of southern Navada and many from Utah, due to the unusual program put on each year by the graduating class.
