Juab held a 22 point lead over Delta after the first day of wrestling, but lost its lead in the semifinals, when only four of ten Varsity sennfi-nalis- t were able to wrestle themselves into the finals. From there, it was an uphill battle to catch and beat the desert powerhouse, but .Juab did nearly that. When it was all said and done, Juabs Varsity had two champions, two runners-up- , three place third, three place fourth, and one pi, ice fifth When you have twelve of fourteen weights place, you expect to win the tournament, said Coach Waldron. Delta has a good team this year, and we were neck and neck with them the w hole way. Another win here or there, and we would have won it. Jordan Guillory (275) came up short in overtime against rival Zane Taylor of Grand in a rematch of last season.-stat-e championship match and one the tournament.-mos-t exciting matches. Jordan wrestled tough again.--t a tough kid. We saw some things we think we can capitalize on, said heavyweight coach, Coach Warner. Nathan Bastian (160) and Kevin Worwood w restled each other for the championship, with Worwood coming out the victor. At 1 15, Jade Greenhalgh won the title with a decision over Jonathon Ixivell of Delta Thad Pay (152) became the champion in his weight with a major decision over Isaiah Harris of Hurricane. This tournament was a good team effort, and I also like the way we had several J V w restler-plac- e in the Varsity tournament. It shows that we are developing some depth. We need to get all of our weights contributing at tournaments though. If we can do that, then we w ill be a pretty tough team. said Coach Waldron. This season, the rolls were reversed, and Juab suffered a loss at the hands from the team up North. Wyet Ingram (103) started the night off right for the Wasps with a tough fought victory, but things went 33-3- 8 7-- 5 Mike White, Bryson Ash- worth, and Brian Brough all won for the Wasps. Coach Waldron commented, This was an embarrassing loss for us. Its not that we lost that bothers me the most. Its how we lost. We werent aggressive, we werent confident, we were slow, we were out of shape, and I didnt have our team properly prepared. Thats a bad combination downhill fast from there.
