The Skoal company sent a letter of understanding to the Ute Stampede Committee, said Garrett. Company officials also indicated the laws of the state concerning the sale of tobacco products. The company, will however, have their logo on the scoreboard and will probably want to give out free at the rodeo. If such a scoreboard were to be purchased for the arena, it would cost at least $200,000 and would require that someone be especially trained to run it. Just to rent an electronic scoreboard for the three days of the rodeo would cost more than $3,500. Hans Braun, who is interested in developing a home business in addition to a music school now operating at his residence, asked for time on the work session agenda to speak to the council about some of the problems he sees in the current business ordinance governing home businesses. In Nephi there are a lot of home businesses, whether they are all operating legally or not, I do not know, said Braun. I don't know if they all have home business licenses or not. His personal opinion was that the trend of the future was toward home business and that every second transaction in business would take place at home. Some businesses, which would ultimately end up in the conventional business district, needed a transition period to discover whether the business would succeed or fail. The present ordinance should be modified, clarified, and replaced, said Braun. The ordinance would allow one home business at an address. By using the Internet, it is possible to conduct three businesses without ever leaving the chair. Not allowing both spouses to pursue careers from home degraded one spouse, he said. For an example, salesmen would carry on business on the Internet but would also spend 50 percent of the time on the road. Those people needed an employee in the home to answer the phone, keep the business growing, and to do bookkeeping. One employee did not provide much impact on a residential neighborhood, he said.
