Show Wednesday, January 20, 1999 From page 3 Gguudgqggii meeting considered four scenarios: A, B, C, and D in considering the types of population density they would like. Scenario A is just what is currently happening in West Valley City. Land is consumed faster than in the other scenarios, said Knowles. New homes are largely singlefamily dwellings on large lots and are larger homes and would represent 77 percent of the mix. Our current mix is 68 percent, said Lloyd Knowles, a volunteer with Envision Utah, and an ar- chitect from Spanish Fork. Knowles led the discussion at the meeting. This scenario has the worst air quality. If the state and local governments follow their 1997 pal plans, the area would develop to be much like it has for the past 20 years in Scenario B. The urbanized area will brow by 75 percent from now until 2020, said Knowles. Nephi, Utah t In Scenario C, average lot sizes would be smaller than they are today. Most of the new housing would still be single-famil- y homes, but more apartments, town houses, condominiums, and small-lo- t sine family homes would be provided, said Knowles. Urbanized growth would be 29 percent from now until 2020, he said. If half of all new growth were focused in existing urban areas, more undeveloped land for open space and agriculture wofcld be preserved. These communities would be designed to permit and encourage walking and biking, and would contain the widest variety of housing types xf any of the scenarios, said Knowles. Those attending the town meeting were asked to share their views by discussing and voting on options concerning housing, transportation, cost, and air quality. In addition to the information gleaned at the greeting during discussion and voting on available options, those attending filled out and submitted a questionnaire. Those who are not present at the meeting can fill out a questionnaire and submit it, Baid Knowles. They can obtain one from a recent newspaper, by writing Envision Utah at P.O. Box 30901, Salt Lake City, 84130, or by voting via r.envisionutah.org. Taxpayers with IDAs beware: IDG dees not epprove IDA iavccazaents Page 5 the Internet.
