The council did, in spite of the mistake, accept public comment on this potential zone change but were unable to act on the change. Beals want to make the zone change so they can have an employee work at the business which is operated from the home and, therefore, must currently meet home occupation requirements. Allowing the property to be zoned for combined use would allow the business to employee others. The work done at the business, done in our home, is a ju sting insurance claims, said Bruce Beal. Hans Braun said his understanding was that the ordinance did allow a noimpact home occupation to have employees. He questioned the home occupation requirements and said that, according to what he understood, the Beals should not require a zone change to employ a person to assist with the insurance business Joy Beal operates. When SR 132 in Salt Creek Canyon is widened between the freeway and the mouth of the canyon, a project the city has long desired, some of the water line will be under the new roadway unless it is moved. When the department of transportation is widened and some passing lanes are added at the golf course turn-ofsome ofour water lines will be disturbed and some would be covered, said Randy McKnight, city administrator. He said the council had directed the to forming a contract with UDOT staff See Zoning on page 2 to move and replace those lines, of course, but had also wanted UDOT to move lines further up the canyon road which needed to be replaced and modernized which might, at some future date, also be in the path of road construction. The lines are old and in need of modJ ernizing, he said. UDOT has agreed, said McKnight, to V replace the lines which are part of their project of road improvement. They : 1 J. ')Tp.z:. have also agreed to have the portion of the water line project which the city is having changed out done at the same time their project is done. The work will be done by the same contractors, under the same bid, and at the same time. Nephi City, of course, will pay for the portion of the water line which is being done at the citys request I recommend you give me the authority to sign the agreement, said Chad ct Year on page 3 f pxi :c ) f, 32 roadomfing O Brough, mayor. The work will be a big improvement and will upgrade our water line. Nephi City is considering an annexation petition submitted by Bill West-fato have 2.5 acres of property he owns near the center freeway interchange on Sheep Lane Road annexed into the city. The first step in the process, said Randy McKnight, city administrator, is for the council to consider accepting the annexation petition for further consideration. Accepting the petition for further consideration does not annex the property or bind the city to annex it. State statutes governing annexations contain several requirements, including at least one public hearing and a protest period after the city recorder, in this ll o G case Blair Painter, certifies that the petition meets statutory requirements. This is just the first step in a lengthy protwsk- for him, said Chad Brough, mayor. When we agree to accept the annexation petition for further consideration, we are just agreeing to allow him to pursue the process. Nephi City Council members agreed to approve the business license application for Canyon View Country Homes Inc., Nephi. The residential health care facility will be located at 338 South 400 East and will be owned by Paula L. Smith, Santaquin, Utah. The facility is currently still under construction in the residential area of Nephi but is within the stipulated uses. - O o II o Co 03mO?
