An assortment of tasty edibles will impress your friends, and since preparation is done in advance, youll have more time to enjoy playing the role of host. Prepare the following for your guests: Butter lettuce salad tossed with sLced Granny Smith apples, blue cheese and toasted pecans in a light vinaigrette. Platter of crisp fresh vegetable pieces with dilled sour cream dip. Arrangement of brie, sharp cheddar and smoked gouda cheeses with baguette slices and assorted crackers. d snack your guests will love to munch. The experts at Quaker A crunchy Ibasted Oatmeal Cereal offer the following summer snack food recipe. c ; box i W'V candy-coate- Oatmeal Squares 'i' HNj r Snacker-Ja- x Quaker Oatmeal Squares Cereal (regular or cinnamon flavor) 12 cups roasted Spanish peanuts 12 cup (1 stick) margarine or butter 1 (16-ounc- e) 1 1 2 cup firmly packed brown sugar tablespoons dark com syrup 2 tablespoons molasses 1 teaspoon salt (optional) 1 teaspoon vanilla 14 teaspoon baking soda Heat oven to 250 degrees. Line two cookie sheets with wax paper. In 13 x J baking pan, combine oatmeal cereal squares and peanuts. In small saucepan, melt margarine over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup, molasses and salt. Bring to a boil. Stir well. Boil 2 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and baking soda; mix well. Immediately pour over cereal i , mixture; stir with wooden spoon to evenly coat all pieces with syrup mixture. 4. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes. Transfer to prepared cookie sheets, spreading mixture into even layer. Cool completely. e Break into pieces. Store tightly covered at room temperature. Makes 10 cups. 1. 2. 3.
